Preston Fritz Smith is a talented New York-based actor, known for his portrayal of Don Grundman in Season 2 of HBO's "Succession". One of his most memorable roles was as the creator of "Con Heads" in a courtroom scene with Connor Roy, which sparked a nationwide fan club and numerous shipments of Con Heads merchandise to his home.
In addition to his work on "Succession", Smith has an impressive resume in television, featuring appearances in "Devious Maids", "Billions", "Horror at the Cecil Hotel", "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", and three seasons as the lead detective on "The Perfect Murder". He has also appeared in numerous films.
On stage, Smith's recent performance as the comedic and "late bloomin' bisexual" Texas cowboy Wayne earned him the Jurors' Award at the Fresh Fruit Festival in New York.
Smith has received extensive training in both Paris at the Cours Florent drama school and in New York at The Barrow Group Theatre and School, where he completed the professional conservatory program and continues to participate in play readings and weekly masterclasses. He is a lifetime member of The Actors Project NYC and has also trained at MN Studio, The Network NYC, Broadway Comedy Club, and TVI Actor's Studio.
In January 2024, Smith participated in a Tennessee Williams residency in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where he performed in three Williams plays and four staged readings, directed by Karen Kohlhaas of the Atlantic Theater Company.
As a classically trained pianist and organist, Smith has had the opportunity to play for numerous notable individuals and events, including Oprah Winfrey, the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, NBC Today Show, ABC Good Morning America, Star Jones' wedding, and the funeral of Mrs. Walter Cronkite, alongside eulogist Hillary Clinton. He has also concertized at Carnegie Hall and other major venues around the world.
