Robin Andrew David Brown, born in 1963 in Poole, Dorset, was destined for greatness in the realm of creative writing. His innate talent and passion for storytelling were evident from a very young age, with family and friends urging him to pursue a career as a novelist. However, life had other plans, and Rad, as he would later come to be known, put his literary aspirations on hold to start a family early in life.
As the years passed, Rad's fascination with film grew, and he became determined to make a name for himself in the industry. In his early 40s, he joined a local theatre club to hone his skills, but after a year, he realized that it was more geared towards stage performances and left to pursue other opportunities.
Rad's big break came when he joined a casting agency, landing supporting artist and walk-on roles on TV, as well as main roles for local university film students. This experience not only honed his acting skills but also led to various roles in independent feature films. On set, Rad was always observant, taking note of the intricacies of filmmaking and asking questions whenever possible.
Despite facing stiff competition from more seasoned actors in auditions and applications for bigger roles, Rad refused to give up. He realized that by combining his writing talent, the knowledge he acquired on film sets, and his growing network of contacts, he could create his own independent films and showcase other lesser-known talent.
And so, Rad's scriptwriting journey began. His ideas resonated with others, and he soon assembled a dedicated team to help him bring his vision to life. In 2015, he decided to rebrand himself, changing his name from Robin Brown to Rad, an acronym of his three forenames, to avoid confusion with other Robin Browns featured in productions. With this new identity, Rad was ready to take the film industry by storm, bringing his unique voice and perspective to the world of independent filmmaking.
