Rickey Boyd is a multifaceted artist and puppeteer who has had a profound impact in the entertainment industry. Growing up in Adairsville, Georgia, he was inspired by the works of Jim Henson and Disney, aspiring to one day work with them as an artist and performer.
After completing his college education in art and theatre at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia, Rickey began producing local children's shows with his college friends, featuring his handmade puppets. This early success led to an audition with Jim Henson, ultimately resulting in a job as a puppeteer.
During his tenure with Henson, Rickey had the opportunity to perform on numerous TV shows and films, including the iconic "Sesame Street," "Dinosaurs," "Animal Jam," "Muppets from Space," "Muppet Wizard of Oz," and the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" films 1 and 2.
In addition to his work with Henson, Rickey has also lent his talents to various other puppet projects, such as "The Basswackers" on The Nashville Network, "WOndermore" on In Touch Ministries, and "The Slugs and Bugs Show" at Brentwood Studios.
Recently, Rickey has been seen performing as Jasper the dog in "A Wonderful Day with Mabel Maclay" on Bentkey, and will be appearing as Culture the Vulture in the upcoming "Adventures of Iggy and Mr. Kirk" from Brave Books, which is set to begin streaming in 2025.
