Rico E. Anderson, a multifaceted artist, is widely recognized as "That guy who was in that thing" in the realms of Pop Culture, Sci Fi, Horror, and True Crime. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Anderson grew up in Berkeley, California, and pursued his passion for theatre at San Francisco State University.
With a rich history of acting since the age of 12, Anderson has established himself as a stalwart in the mainstream and indie theatre and film scene in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a founding member of the African American Shakespeare Company, he performed in traveling productions for over five years, traveling throughout Northern and Southern California to educate children about health and safety through four major productions produced by Kaiser Permanente.
Anderson's impressive television and film credits include a recurring role as Herbie on the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series, Truth Be Told, as well as guest appearances on numerous shows such as SWAT, FBI International, The Orville, Star Trek Renegades, Modern Family, Two and a Half Men, 2 Broke Girls, Bones, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Law & Order, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Days of our Lives.
On stage, Anderson has delivered standout performances in several notable productions, including the multiple award-winning production of The Ballad of Emmett Till at the Fountain Theatre in Los Angeles, Fences at the NexStage Theatre in Ketchum, Idaho, the title role in Oedipus with the African American Shakespeare Company in San Francisco, For The Love of Freedom-Trilogy at The Robey Theatre Company in Los Angeles, The Meeting as Malcolm X, Off off Broadway in Bed of Truth, Equus, and A Soldiers Play.
As a member of the Los Angeles-based Sketch Comedy Troupe, 'The Outpatients', Anderson performed at the World Famous Comedy Store Main Room. His numerous awards include the NAACP Award, Telly Award, Drama Critics Circle, Ovation, SOFIE, Pasadena International Film Festival, NYFA, and FIFF.
Anderson currently resides in Los Angeles, where he continues to work extensively in film, television, theatre, and voice-over, makes celebrity appearances at various sci-fi conventions, and carefully selects his next project.
