Robert began his acting career at the tender age of eight by enrolling in an after-school drama program sponsored by Trinity Repertory Company. Later that same year, he landed a role as Turkey Boy in Trinity's production of A Christmas Carol, marking the beginning of a long and illustrious career on stage. Since then, Robert has performed a wide variety of roles, showcasing his impressive range and versatility.
As he continued to hone his craft, Robert turned his attention to film, landing his first principal role in the 2009 movie Bride Wars, where he played the role of Robert. He quickly followed this up with a role as Young Dave's Pal in the 2010 movie Sorcerer's Apprentice.
Robert's breakthrough role came when he was cast as Rowley in Fox's three-movie franchise Diary of A Wimpy Kid, which was released in 2010, 2011, and 2012. The third installment, Dog Days, was released in August 2012 and cemented Robert's status as a rising star.
In addition to his work on film, Robert has also lent his voice to several projects, including the 2012 Tim Burton-directed movie Frankenweenie, in which he played the role of Bob. He also appeared as Young Curly in the 2012 movie The Three Stooges and as Kyle in the 2013 movie The Way, Way Back.
In 2013, Robert gained valuable experience in motion-capture 3D CGI when he played the role of Derek in the motion-capture version of Tarzan. He then appeared alongside Bailey Madison in the 2015 indie feature Annabelle Hooper and The Ghosts of Nantucket and landed the role of Jack Black's son Dave in the 2016 feature film The Polka King, which also starred Jenny Slate, Jackie Weaver, and Jason Schwartzman.
In addition to his work in film and television, Robert is also a talented stage actor, and he is currently a freshman at Brown University, where he is majoring in theater, film studies, and screenwriting. He is passionate about reading, acting, history, watching movies, and reading and writing his own screenplays, and he also enjoys swimming, tennis, and playing video games in his free time.
