Robin Thede is a multifaceted creative force, boasting a diverse range of talents that include comedy writing, sketch and improvisational comedy, and acting. She began her academic journey at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and African-American Studies.
Following her time at Northwestern, Robin further honed her skills in improvisation, sketch, and comedy writing at The Second City in Chicago, a renowned institution for comedic training.
Robin's impressive resume includes creating, executive producing, and starring in the critically acclaimed HBO series "A Black Lady Sketch Show", as well as creating, executive producing, and hosting the late-night BET show "The Rundown with Robin Thede". Her work has been recognized by Variety, which named her one of the Top Ten Comics to Watch in 2019.
Prior to her success as a showrunner, Robin held the position of head writer and correspondent for The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, making her the first African-American woman head writer in late-night television history. She also served as head writer for the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2016, a historic milestone in her career.
Robin's extensive experience in comedy writing has led her to work with a wide range of comedians, including Chris Rock, Kevin Hart, Anthony Anderson, Mike Epps, and Jamie Foxx, among others. She has also written for numerous award shows and specials, including the MTV Video Music Awards, The BET Awards, UNCF: An Evening of Stars, BET Hip Hop Awards, and BET Honors.
In addition to her writing credits, Robin has appeared in numerous TV shows and movies, including Difficult People, Key & Peele, A Haunted House, and more. Her upcoming project includes a role in the thriller feature film "Bad Hair", directed by Justin Simien.
As a prolific writer and performer, Robin has created several viral sketches for Funny or Die, including the hit sketch "Every Little Step" featuring Mike Tyson, Wayne Brady, and Bobby Brown.
