Sherri Evonne Shepherd, a talented individual, was born and raised in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois. As a young girl, she spent her early years in the suburb of Hoffman Estates, where her father, Lawrence, worked as a food service manager at Sambos Restaurant and served as a deacon in their local church. Her mother, LaVerne, dedicated herself to cleaning homes, instilling in Sherri the importance of hard work and dedication from a young age.
With a passion for comedy, Sherri began her stand-up career in 1990 while working as a legal secretary in Beverly Hills. Despite the demands of her job, she continued to pursue her dream, eventually taking the leap and quitting her secretarial position in 1995. Twelve days later, she landed her first series as a regular on the WB's Cleghorne! in 1995. Although the show only lasted for one season, Sherri's determination and perseverance paid off, and she was able to return to her secretarial job at the law firm for the next three years.
Sherri is perhaps best known for her role as Ramona on ABC's Less Than Perfect in 2002. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to her stand-up roots, regularly performing at renowned comedy clubs such as the Comedy Store, the Laugh Factory, and the Improv.
