Soji Arai, a talented individual, has recently gained worldwide recognition for his captivating portrayal of Mozasu in Apple TV+'s Pachinko, a production based on the globally acclaimed novel by Min Jin Lee.
Born in Niigata, Japan, Soji is the son of second-generation Korean-Japanese parents, also known as Zainichi. After completing his education at Waseda University, he made a significant impact on the Tokyo theater scene with his impressive performance as Max in Bent, directed by renowned director Robert Allan Ackerman.
Throughout his illustrious career, Soji has had the privilege of starring in numerous notable productions, including the multi-award-winning play Angels in America, as well as Desire Under the Elms, Three Sisters, Blood Wedding, Balm in Gilead, and the world premieres of Strangers on a Train and The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone, a Tennessee Williams play.
In 2009, Soji was introduced to a global audience as Toshi, the love interest of Brittany Murphy, in the film The Ramen Girl.
Throughout his illustrious career, Soji has had the opportunity to work alongside some of the most prominent names in the industry, including Oscar winner Rachel Weisz in Amazon Prime Video's Dead Ringers, Oscar winner Youn Yuh-jung in Apple TV+'s Pachinko, and Oscar-nominated Rinko Kikuchi in HBO Max's Tokyo Vice.
