Ted Prior was born in Newark, New Jersey, where he spent his early childhood surrounded by a loving family. His father, a stand-up comic, and mother, an on-stage assistant to magician Harry Blackstone, instilled in him a sense of creativity and performance from a young age. When Ted was just five years old, his parents divorced, and his mother soon remarried. The family relocated to Baltimore, where his stepfather became an art teacher and his mother a seamstress for local theater companies.
As a child, Ted quickly became involved in the theater, landing roles in various productions. This early exposure to the performing arts sparked a passion within him, and he knew that he wanted to become a professional actor. In 1979, he made the bold decision to leave for Los Angeles to pursue his dream, and over the past 26 years, he has worked tirelessly to hone his craft.
Throughout his illustrious career, Ted has had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented actors in the industry. His credits include starring roles in over 28 feature films, with notable co-stars such as Tony Curtis, Cher, Powers Boothe, Heather Locklear, Glenn Ford, Lance Henriksen, Robert Davi, David Carradine, Michael Ironside, Wilford Brimley, Sandahl Bergman, and Stacy Keach, to name a few.
In addition to his on-screen accomplishments, Ted has also ventured into teaching, partnering with a longtime friend to establish the "Working Stage" in Hollywood, California. His wealth of experience, both in front of and behind the camera, has granted him the unique ability to teach from a "reality of doing" perspective.
Today, Ted is the proud owner and operator of "Next Level Acting Studios" in Santa Clarita, California, and is also a partner in the successful production company "All American Pictures." Founded in July 2005 with his brother David A. Prior and Bill Ferrell, the company has produced over 50 feature-length motion pictures, boasting a combined 80 years of experience in the film industry.
