Tim Bentinck is a multi-talented individual, renowned for his impressive acting career, which spans across various mediums including stage, film, radio, and television. He is best known for his iconic role as David Archer in the BBC Radio series, The Archers, a position he has held since 1982.
Bentinck's extensive acting credits include notable roles such as Tom Lacey in the 80s series By The Sword Divided, starring alongside David Jason in The Royal Bodyguard, and featuring in popular television shows like Twenty Twelve, The Politician's Husband, East Enders, Lucan, Gangsta Granny, and The Game. He has also made a name for himself in the world of short films, with his performance in Locked Up winning the Best Short Film award at the 2014 Lanzarote Film Festival.
As a talented voice artist and dubbing specialist, Bentinck has lent his voice to various projects, including the computer game James Bond in The World Is Not Enough, Victor Saltzpyre in the video game Vermintide, and the iconic "Mind The Gap" announcement on the Piccadilly Line in London, a role he held for 15 years.
In addition to his acting and voice work, Bentinck is also an inventor, writer, travel journalist, computer programmer, and musician. He attended Harrow, University of East Anglia, and trained as an actor at the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Bentinck has also made a name for himself in the world of competitive television, winning Celebrity Mastermind in 2012 with a specialist subject of Winnie the Pooh, defeating Judith Keppel head-to-head in Celebrity Eggheads, and emerging victorious in Pointless Celebrities alongside Linford Christie and the tallest couple in Britain.
With a daily audience of 5 million listeners in The Archers, Bentinck has become a household name. He has also published his autobiography, "Being David Archer - And Other Unusual Ways of Earning a Living", in 2017. In 2018, he was honored with an MBE for Services to Drama, presented to him by the Prince of Wales.
Bentinck is married to Judy, a renowned hat designer, and has two sons, Will and Jasper. He resides in London.
