Tony T. Roberts, a comedian renowned by his peers as the "comedian's comedian," has established himself as a prominent figure in the comedy circuit through his high-energy and hard-hitting style.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, on Seven Mile, Tony is the oldest son of Annette Roberts and the only son of his father Alvin Askew. He graduated from Henry Ford High School and later served in the Army for 10 years, a journey that earned him the nickname "Sergeant of Comedy" from some.
After leaving the service, Tony worked various jobs before his friend Perry encouraged him to try stand-up comedy. Tony's first stage appearance was at Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle in Royal Oak, Michigan, although he recalls that night being anything but smooth.
Tony's impressive improvisational skills and quick wit have made him a favorite among club owners, and he has toured the nation with his stand-up comedy in major nightclubs across the country. He has also toured nationally with stage plays such as "If These Hips Could Talk" and "Ain't Nothing Like Family" and internationally with his stand-up comedy, earning a 2009 nomination for Best International Comic from the UK.
Tony has made numerous television appearances on HBO's "Def Comedy Jam," BET's "Comic View," and "Showtime at the Apollo." In 2010, his one-hour comedy special "Wired" aired on Showtime. He has also appeared in several films, including "Death of a Dynasty," "A Get2gether," and "Durdy Game."
A devoted family man, Tony has three children and resides in Los Angeles, California, with his wife.
