Tristen J. Winger embarked on his television acting journey by making a memorable debut in Issa Rae's HBO Original Series, "Insecure". He brought to life the character of "Thug Yoda", an intimidating yet lovable father, who also happened to be a local gang member, in the show. As Issa's neighbor, Tristen's character delivered both Yoda-like wisdom and comedic relief, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
Born and raised in South Los Angeles, Tristen's passion for the arts was evident from an early age. In 2000, he was enrolled in The Colburn School of Performing Arts, where he refined his skills in acting, voice, and dance. Later, he joined the Amazing Grace Conservatory, which further fueled his creative development.
Years later, Tristen landed a role in the critically acclaimed web series, "The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl", where he portrayed the character of "Darius", a soft-spoken individual with a distinctive baby-voiced tone. Following this success, Tristen began taking improv classes at The Upright Citizen's Brigade and courses at Lesly Kahn & Co.
When not on screen, Tristen enjoys writing, traveling, producing music, and impersonating characters and people from everyday life. He acknowledges his passion and growing success to his mother, a retired touring ballroom dancer, who consistently sought out activities to nurture his creative growth.
