In 1928 Austria, a young Jewish man named Phillippe Halsman is accused of murdering his father on a hiking trip. As his defense attorney, Richard Pressburger uncovers evidence of Judge Larcher's bias against Phillippe, putting their professional relationship at risk. With Larcher threatening contempt charges, Richard must decide whether to continue fighting for Phillippe's freedom or abandon the case in the face of overwhelming prejudice.
