A man with a unique appearance walks into a Las Vegas pawn shop with a statue of a hideous Leprechaun, which is said to be a good luck charm. The shop owner, unaware of the statue's true nature, removes a medallion around its neck, freeing the Leprechaun and unleashing a pot of gold. The Leprechaun, intent on protecting his treasure, begins to kill anyone who gets near it. Meanwhile, a young man named Scott, who is on his way to school in L.A., meets a friendly girl named Tammy and tries his luck at a casino. After losing everything, Scott finds the dead pawn shop owner and a gold coin that grants a wish. He wishes for a winning streak, but the casino is run by a corrupt owner who hates to lose. As the Leprechaun begins to wreak havoc, Scott is bitten and transforms into a tall Leprechaun.
