During the Korean War, a disillusioned US Marine Corps sergeant selects a team of "expendable" men from the brig for a perilous mission. While behind enemy lines, the group of misfits and malcontents encounters a group of Catholic schoolgirls and their nun, whose bus was damaged in an airstrike. As they move towards their objective, tensions rise within the group, particularly due to the influence of one dissenting member.
