In the 1980s, a teenager from a troubled African-American family navigates the challenges of being a minority student at an all-white school, struggling to find his place and fit in.

In the heart of Brooklyn's Bed-Stuy neighborhood in 1982, 13-year-old Chris, narrated by Tyler James Williams, shoulders the weight of responsibility as he cares for his siblings while his parents work tirelessly to provide for the family.
