Ken Carter, a basketball coach, takes a job at his old high school in a poor area of Richmond, CA. He's dismayed by the players' attitudes and performance, so he sets strict rules, including contracts, a dress code, and good grades. Despite initial resistance, the team becomes undefeated under his guidance. However, when they start slacking off, Carter cancels all activities and locks the court until they improve their grades.
