Charles Starrett's character, Steve Buckner, is suspended from the Secret Service and heads to the Texas Panhandle to investigate rumors of his involvement as the Durango Kid. He discovers that renegades have been attacking settler wagon trains and stealing government gold. In the town of Crow Springs, he uncovers a land office run by Ace Gatlin, who is using fraudulent methods to swindle settlers, with Ann Williams unknowingly assisting him. As the Durango Kid, Steve learns that Gatlin's men are responsible for the gold theft.
