Panic in the Skies background

Panic in the Skies

When a sudden lightning strike disables the flight crew, a seasoned flight attendant and a resourceful passenger must work together to expertly guide the plane's autopilot system and safely bring it to the ground.

A Boeing 747 is struck by lightning during takeoff, killing the flight crew. The senior flight attendant, Laurie, teams up with passenger Brett Young to bring the plane in safely, but they soon discover that the autopilot is malfunctioning, causing it to lock onto random airfield signals, including those from small airports with too-short runways. As authorities on the ground lose contact with the jet, they debate whether to shoot it down to prevent a catastrophic crash in a populated area.
