In the small town of Phantom Valley, Marshal Steve is tasked with resolving the escalating tensions between ranchers and homesteaders. Upon investigation, he identifies three prime suspects, only to have one of them fall victim to a shooting. The subsequent discovery of handwritten notes leads Steve to implicate the other two, but just as he's about to apprehend them, they're unexpectedly released from jail and targeted for murder. Enter the Durango Kid, who intervenes and helps Steve unravel the mystery by comparing the handwritten notes, ultimately revealing the true culprit.
