Billy the Kid and his partner Fuzzy Jones are on the run from outlaws in Arizona, but they soon find themselves in the middle of a range war in New Mexico. They agree to help a local rancher, Ed Dawson, drive his cattle to the rail junction, but things take a turn when one of Dawson's men is killed and the remaining ranch hands are threatened to quit. Billy and Fuzzy must navigate the treacherous landscape, dealing with corrupt ranch hands, rustlers, and a rival gang led by Coulter, who has a personal vendetta against Billy.
