Moonbase Alpha is drifting in space after an atomic explosion blasts the Moon out of Earth orbit, leaving 300 people on board. A rescue team from Earth arrives in a faster-than-light ship, but Commander John Koenig sees gruesome monsters instead of friends. The aliens have telepathically manipulated everyone on Alpha to see an illusion of an Earth party, and their plan is to get the Alphans to detonate nuclear waste on the Lunar surface, reducing the Moon to dust.
