In 1965, Don Haskins, the coach of a high school girl basketball team, joins the Texas Western Miners as their new coach. Despite limited resources, Haskins sees an opportunity to challenge the NCAA and moves his family into the college dormitory. He assembles a team of seven talented black players and five Caucasian players, leading them to a historic national championship victory over Kentucky in 1966.
