In the 1970s, a renowned news anchor seeks to reclaim his position as a leading figure in a groundbreaking 24-hour news network in New York City.

Ron Burgundy, a former news anchor, returns to San Diego after being fired and replaced by his wife Veronica. He finds himself working part-time at Sea World, but gets a second chance when Freddie Schapp, an executive producer, hires him to lead a news team on the Global News Network.
