The Bowery Boys, including Slip, join the army and head to camp, where they're reunited with their old friend and benefactor, Louie Dumbrowsky, who's surprisingly promoted to major. However, his new rank is soon threatened when foreign agents kidnap him, seeking the secret of the deadly hydrogen ray, which only Louie possesses. The boys go AWOL to rescue their friend and foil the spy's plans.
